Trail 2016 – Day 26
Trail is a 670km, 28 day long walk mapping the length of Sri Lanka in order to collectively drive the fight against cancer while promoting unity within the nation. It is the first ever large-scale crowdsourced fundraising initiative in Sri Lanka, raising USD 2.6 million in 2011, the year it was founded. Based on the initial success of the walk, founders Sarinda Unamboowe and Nathan Sivagananathan plan to walk from the North of Sri Lanka to the South in October 2016, raising $5 million to build a dedicated cancer treatment facility as an expansion of the Karapitiya Teaching Hospital in Galle.
