Sri Lanka wins at World Carrom Championship

Sri Lanka won 1st place in men’s group event at the World Carrom Championship 2016 in Birmingham, UK.

A contingent of four men and four women carrom players from Sri Lankan accompanied by two officials participated in the 7th World Carrom Championship held from Monday (7) to Friday (11).

Sri Lanka Men’s team was led by 12 time national champion and Swiss League World Champion Chamil Cooray. Apart from Sri Lanka and host Britain, there will be 15 other countries in action including India, US, Canada, Switzerland, Germany, France, Italy, Czech Republic and Poland.

Sri Lanka had the rare honour of winning the men’s singles title in the last edition through DND Fernando.
